
Gunmen have abducted Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, while Mrs John-Paul was on her way to drop her sons, Peter and Paul, at school. According to a statement from Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the abduction took place around 7:30 a.m.
Awogboro said the family of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and APC gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, formally confirmed the incident. He stated that the matter had been reported to the police.

Mrs John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. She retired voluntarily from service last year after working with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. She had relocated to Ibadan with her children while making arrangements to join her husband, who is based in the United States.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims remained unknown. Efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, for comment were unsuccessful.
