
The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man, Taye Kasali, over the alleged killing of his mother, Kudirat Kasali, in Bose Osi, Osun State.
The police said the woman and her son were reported missing at the Bode-Osi Police Division on September 1, 2026, after they were last seen together.
Following an investigation, police operatives arrested Taye on September 7. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to killing his mother and burying her remains in a shallow grave on the family farm.
According to the police, the suspect claimed that his mother had repeatedly called him a mad person and had threatened to lease out the farmland, which he described as the family’s main source of livelihood.
He allegedly told investigators that he killed her on August 31 by attacking her with a machete before burying her body on the farm.

The police said Taye later led investigators to the burial site, where the remains of his mother and the machete allegedly used in the attack were recovered.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, ordered a thorough investigation and directed that the suspect be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The command urged members of the public to report missing persons and suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
