A police officer serving with the A Division, Kontagora, Niger State Command, PC Sabiu Saidu, has petitioned the Commissioner of Police over the alleged assault of a senior officer, ASP Yakubu Yusuf.
In the petition dated September 9, 2026, Saidu alleged that Yusuf slapped him twice on September 8 while he was in uniform and performing his official duties at the station guard.
According to the officer, the incident followed a disagreement involving the senior officer’s daughter, who had reportedly complained that Saidu was sitting inside the security room instead of carrying out police duties.

Saidu said he was later summoned to Yusuf’s office, where the senior officer allegedly confronted him about his response to the daughter before slapping him twice.
The petitioner named three police personnel as witnesses and called for a full and impartial investigation into the matter.
He also requested protection from intimidation, harassment or victimisation and urged the police command to take appropriate disciplinary action if the allegation is established.
