
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old man, Aisanu Nura, over the suspected drowning of a 17-year-old boy, Abdullahi Muhammad, in Kari Village, Darazo Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib said the incident was reported to the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters on May 24, 2026. According to the report, Abdullahi drowned in the Kari River under circumstances allegedly involving Nura, who is from the same village.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect lured the deceased to the river before he drowned. Officers from the Darazo Division responded quickly, arrested the suspect, and began a preliminary investigation.

The victim’s body has not yet been recovered, and search operations are ongoing. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for a thorough investigation.
Bauchi State Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed a professional and diligent probe into the incident. He assured the public that justice would be served and that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted.
The command urged parents and guardians to increase supervision of teenagers and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
