Two police officers have lost their lives during a security operation that resulted in the rescue of nine kidnapped victims in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the Kaduna State Police Command, the operation followed intelligence reports that armed bandits had abducted several farmers from Unguwan Sa’idu village on June 24.
Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said officers, including personnel from the Police Mobile Force and members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service, were deployed to the area to track down the kidnappers.

However, tragedy struck as the operatives were returning from the mission. Suspected bandits allegedly launched an ambush along their route, during which two police officers sustained fatal gunshot wounds and died while on duty.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Rabiu Muhammad, expressed condolences to the families of the slain officers and their colleagues, describing them as courageous personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The police command added that investigations and tactical operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the deadly ambush.
