
Troops of Sector 9 under Operation ENDURING PEACE have successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims from Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The rescue operation, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 24, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers within the forest.
According to a statement issued by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Oteh, troops stationed in Namu Town launched a deliberate offensive operation around 3:00 a.m., leading to the victims’ rescue.
During the operation, soldiers engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle as the criminals attempted to flee. Amid the exchange of fire, three victims managed to escape from captivity.
A subsequent search and combing of the forest by the troops led to the rescue of five additional victims, bringing the total number of rescued individuals to eight.

The military confirmed that all rescued victims are in stable condition and efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.
The operation has been widely commended by members of the affected communities, who also pledged to continue supporting security agencies with useful information to track down criminal elements.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified efforts to pursue and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers, reaffirming their commitment to restoring peace and security across the region.
Operation ENDURING PEACE also called on citizens to sustain their cooperation with security forces to help dismantle criminal networks and ensure lasting stability in Plateau State.
