
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within the Abeokuta metropolis.
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Bidemi Tijani and 42-year-old Olajide Rasaq, were apprehended on August 15 during an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, security operatives received credible intelligence that suspected members of the robbery gang, disguised as commercial taxi operators, were heading toward the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta.
Acting on the information, the operatives launched a swift operation, pursued the suspects, intercepted their vehicle, and arrested the two men.

Police authorities revealed that the suspects confessed during interrogation to being active members of a “one-chance” syndicate allegedly responsible for robbing unsuspecting commuters across different parts of Abeokuta.
The command also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang, uncover the full extent of their operations, and recover additional evidence.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the VCRU operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state and warned that criminals would not find refuge in Ogun.
Residents and commuters were encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies through the appropriate emergency channels.
