
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected thugs and rescued three victims following a violent attack in Bununu Town, located in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Monday, August 17, 2026, during a routine patrol by security operatives. The patrol team reportedly spotted a group of hoodlums attacking three male residents of the community.
The victims, aged 30, 31, and 28, sustained injuries to their heads and other parts of their bodies during the assault.
Police officers immediately intervened, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Ibrahim Hassan, 23, and Bilal Hassan, 22, both residents of Bununu Town. Other members of the group reportedly fled the scene when the police arrived.

Security operatives also recovered a sharp knife and a sharp-edged animal horn, locally known as “kaho,” from the suspects.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command confirmed that the prompt response of the patrol team prevented further harm to the victims.
The injured victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Bununu, where they received medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that they are currently in stable condition.
Police said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the matter and vowed that the command would not tolerate thuggery, hooliganism, or any form of violence capable of disrupting public peace.
Meanwhile, additional security personnel have been deployed to Bununu to strengthen surveillance and prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
