The Ogun State Police Command has opened an investigation into allegations of a violent confrontation between officers of the Igbesa Division and students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), following reports that several students, including the Students’ Union President, were allegedly assaulted and left injured.
According to the police, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a “comprehensive investigation” to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, which sparked unrest within the institution and surrounding communities.
The tension reportedly escalated on Wednesday night when angry students stormed a police station in protest over the alleged attack.
The protest followed claims that officers had violently assaulted students during an operation linked to the institution, leaving multiple victims hospitalised.

Videos circulating online reportedly showed injured students and a large crowd protesting at the police station.
The exact trigger of the confrontation remains unclear as investigations continue.
School management officials were also seen in video footage appealing for calm, with assurances that injured students would receive medical treatment at nearby hospitals, including teaching and federal medical facilities.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over alleged excessive use of force and calling for accountability.
It has also renewed public debate about recurring allegations of police brutality in Nigeria, despite reforms promised in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests.
