A 30-year-old man, Iliyasu Muhammad, has been praised for his bravery after reportedly confronting kidnappers who invaded his residence in the Ring Road area of Jos, Plateau State, in an attempt to abduct his wife.
According to Jos-based journalist and On-Air personality, Lukman Bello, Muhammad displayed remarkable courage during the incident, which reportedly occurred about two years ago.
Bello said two kidnappers stormed Muhammad’s residence and were about to take his wife away when the 30-year-old man resisted.
Despite being held at gunpoint, Muhammad reportedly wrestled with one of the kidnappers. During the struggle, another kidnapper allegedly attempted to shoot him.
The report said Muhammad sustained a gunshot injury to his jaw but refused to release the kidnapper he was fighting.
In the course of the struggle, Muhammad reportedly managed to turn the attacker towards his accomplice when another shot was fired, causing the bullet to hit and kill the second kidnapper.
Muhammad was subsequently rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where a doctor identified as Dr Gyang reportedly helped save his life.
