The Osun State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups planning to forcefully take over local government council offices in the state.
In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police (Election), Samuel Erale, said the command had received intelligence reports indicating that some groups were considering taking control of local government facilities despite ongoing court proceedings.
The police described such actions as an act of self-help capable of disrupting public peace and order.
According to the statement, no individual, political party, or association has the legal authority to assume control of any local government area or public institution while the matter remains before the court.
