Suspected gunmen have abducted three members of a family in Ogun State, sparking fear and outrage among residents of the once-peaceful Ijebu Ode area.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, where eyewitnesses say about 15 heavily armed men stormed the community around 7pm.
The attackers reportedly invaded a residential building, ransacked the premises, and forcefully took away two women and a man.
During the attack, a woman was also shot as the assailants fled into a nearby forest, leaving residents in panic and confusion.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the abduction on Tuesday, stating that tactical and intelligence operations have been launched to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
Sources revealed that the head of the affected family, a government employee, was not at home when the incident occurred.

A relative of the victims expressed deep concern, especially for one of the abducted women who was reportedly ill before the attack, raising fears about her condition in captivity.
Community leaders have described the incident as shocking, noting that Ipojo Golden Estate had long been considered a safe and developed area.
Residents are now calling on the government and security agencies to strengthen security presence and prevent further attacks.
The development adds to growing concerns over rising cases of kidnapping in Ogun State, particularly in rural and agrarian communities across Ijebuland.
Recent reports indicate that victims in similar incidents have only been released after the payment of huge ransoms, leaving many residents living in constant fear.
Authorities have assured the public of ongoing efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted victims as investigations continue.
