Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have recovered a single-barrel long gun and six live cartridges after a suspected armed rider abandoned the items and escaped during a stop-and-search operation in Aiyetoro. The incident occurred along the Ayetoro–Olodo Road axis on Tuesday when officers of the Aiyetoro Area Command flagged down an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle for routine checks.
According to the Police Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the yet-to-be-identified male rider sighted the operatives from a distance and immediately sped off in an attempt to evade arrest. In the process, he reportedly threw the firearm and ammunition into a nearby bush before fleeing on the motorcycle.
