The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a self-styled pastor, identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” over an alleged fraud involving 18 members of a fellowship in Abeokuta.
Makinde was accused of collecting about ₦2.5 million from the fellowship members after allegedly promising to arrange a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly told the members that participants in the trip would receive ₦2 million each. However, the promised trip reportedly failed to materialise, prompting complaints from some of the victims.
The police said Makinde was also accused of manipulating unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of providing spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.

Following the complaints, detectives attached to the Obantoko Division commenced a discreet investigation which lasted about four months.
The suspect was eventually arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, on August 3, 2026, at about 4:45 p.m.
The police said investigations were ongoing to identify other possible victims and determine whether the suspect had accomplices involved in the alleged scheme.
The command urged members of the public who may have fallen victim to similar activities to come forward and assist investigators.
Makinde remains in police custody as investigations continue, while the allegations against him are yet to be proven in court.
