The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, followed intelligence obtained during investigations into a suspected criminal syndicate involved in supplying firearms, ammunition and illicit drugs to criminal groups.
The police said the breakthrough came after the arrest of four suspects, one of whom, identified as Musbahu Ishaq, reportedly provided information that led investigators to the forest hideout.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the operatives conducted the follow-up operation on August 2 after receiving credible intelligence.
The hideout, located between Plateau and Bauchi states, was allegedly being used by members of the syndicate to conceal weapons and other materials linked to criminal activities.
Police investigations reportedly established that Ishaq obtained firearms and ammunition from a suspect identified as Rabiu Hassan before supplying them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, described by the police as a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large.

A search of the camp led to the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed at the location.
The police said efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate who remain at large, recover more weapons and bring all suspects before the court.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, banditry and other organised crimes.
He urged residents to continue providing credible information to the police to assist ongoing security operations across the territory and surrounding areas.
