Two separate fire incidents were recorded in Kano State, affecting an Access Bank branch and a residential building in different parts of the state.
The Kano State Fire Service disclosed that firefighters successfully contained the incidents, preventing the flames from spreading to surrounding structures.
According to a statement issued by the service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Abdullahi, the first fire occurred at about 1:17pm at an Access Bank branch in Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
Firefighters from the Dawanau Fire Station were dispatched after receiving an emergency call and found a one-storey building being used as a bank engulfed in flames.
The fire reportedly destroyed a Mikano generator, while an electrical transformer was slightly affected. Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control and prevented it from spreading to other sections of the bank.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
A second fire outbreak was reported at about 6:19pm at Sabuwar Gandu, Sheka Gari, in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Firefighters from the Sharada Industrial Area Fire Station responded to the emergency and found a ground-floor residential building on fire.

The blaze affected two bedrooms, a parlour and a kitchen before it was brought under control through the combined efforts of the fire service and nearby factories that provided additional water jets.
The Kano State Fire Service Director, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to take fire-prevention measures seriously.
He advised households to keep functional fire extinguishers and observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks.
The service also urged residents to report emergencies promptly to enable firefighters to respond quickly and minimise damage to lives and property.
