Three people have lost their lives while three others sustained injuries after a crane collided head-on with a truck along the Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway in Ogun State.
The fatal crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday and involved a crane without a registration number and a Benz truck bearing registration number LG 59 BLF.
According to reports, the crane driver was travelling against traffic at high speed before crashing into the oncoming truck, which was moving in its designated lane.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident, stating that six people were involved in the accident.

He disclosed that three victims died, while the remaining three suffered varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were immediately taken to Babcock University Hospital, Ilisan Remo, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
Akinbiyi explained that preliminary findings and eyewitness accounts indicated that reckless driving and excessive speed by the crane driver were responsible for the collision.
He added that the accident disrupted traffic along the route, prompting TRACE officials to divert vehicles through Delabo Junction to ease congestion and ensure the free flow of traffic while emergency responders cleared the scene.
