
Gunmen suspected to be armed herders have attacked a farming community in Tukur village, Kinat in Mangu Halle District of Plateau State, killing three residents during a violent assault on Monday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Mr. Titus Brigade, his wife Mrs. Rahab Titus Brigade, and another woman, Mrs. Laitu Pius.
According to a community youth leader, Markus Lonkat, the attackers stormed the area while the victims were working on their farmlands and opened fire on them.
He said the incident left three people dead on the spot, while about five others sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Lonkat described the attack as unprovoked and expressed concern over the growing insecurity in the area, noting that residents had lived peacefully with other groups for several years before the recent wave of violence.
In a separate incident, another attack was recorded in Gwomjang Community in Kadunu Ward, Gindiri District of Plateau State, where eight people were killed and about 15 others injured on Sunday night.
The Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area, Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, condemned both attacks, describing them as barbaric and inhumane.
He assured that injured victims were receiving treatment at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, while the local government would cover their medical expenses.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements, and cooperate with security agencies to prevent further attacks in the area.
