A TikTok user in Ibadan, Oyo State, has alleged that she was forced to undergo traditional rites and that her family paid ₦400,000 after she shared a video related to the Oloolu masquerade festival on the social media platform.
The woman, identified as Wasilat and popularly known on TikTok as Adeola Ti O Care, made the claims in a viral video while denying widespread rumours that she died after allegedly seeing the Oloolu masquerade.
According to her, the incident began after she recorded a video from inside a room showing security personnel and activities around the area where the festival was taking place. She said she uploaded the clip to TikTok to notify people that the procession was ongoing so they could avoid passing through the route.
Wasilat claimed that shortly after the video was posted, some individuals contacted her and demanded that she delete it. Although she complied immediately, she alleged that screenshots of the post had already been circulated.
She further alleged that days later, two men arrived at her residence, accused her of operating the TikTok account and later involved police officers who arrested her. She claimed she spent a night in custody before being granted bail.
Despite regaining her freedom, Wasilat alleged that she was taken to another location where she was compelled to undergo traditional rites. She claimed her hair was shaved against her will and that a goat was slaughtered, with its blood poured on her during the ceremony.

She also alleged that she was forced to appear in a live video and instructed to falsely claim that she became seriously ill after seeing the Oloolu masquerade. According to her, she was made to say she suffered unusual health complications, even though she insisted she had not experienced any such illness.
Wasilat further claimed that those involved later demanded ₦400,000 from her husband before the matter was resolved, alleging that the payment was made through a bank transfer.
The allegations have generated reactions on social media. However, the individuals and groups mentioned in her account had not publicly responded to the claims, while authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the matter at the time of reporting.
