The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant successes in a series of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations across Oyo, Rivers, and Yobe States, leading to the arrest of seven suspected criminals linked to cultism, armed robbery, murder, and cattle rustling.
In Oyo State, police operatives arrested three suspected cultists and armed robbers in Ibadan during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Rhema Bridge axis in Oluyole.
The suspects, who were riding a Bajaj motorcycle, reportedly drew the attention of officers due to suspicious movements.
A search conducted on them led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and an axe concealed in a school bag. According to police authorities, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are affiliated with the notorious Aiye and Eiye cult groups.
They also allegedly confessed to involvement in multiple armed robbery operations. Further investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In Rivers State, police operatives apprehended three members of a criminal gang allegedly responsible for the killing of two police officers during a stop-and-search operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area on June 29, 2026.
The officers were attacked while on duty, resulting in fatal injuries. One officer reportedly suffered severe injuries leading to the amputation of his leg before he later died, while another was killed instantly. The attackers also made away with the officers’ service rifles.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police ordered an immediate manhunt. Acting on credible intelligence, the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit arrested three suspects identified as Maduabuchi Emeka (alias “Doctor”), Chinedu Owhor, and Kamachi Joe.

Recovered from the suspects were three AK-47 rifles, including two allegedly stolen from the slain officers, as well as a Scorpion rifle. Police investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to other ongoing murder cases, while efforts are underway to apprehend additional gang members still at large.
Meanwhile, in Yobe State, police arrested a 28-year-old suspect, Umar Sanda, for alleged cattle rustling involving 19 cows. The suspect was intercepted along the Yobe-Bauchi axis while transporting the livestock.
During interrogation, Sanda claimed the cattle belonged to his brother but failed to provide credible proof of ownership.
The animals have since been secured, while investigations continue to determine their rightful owner and the extent of the suspect’s involvement in the crime.
The police have reiterated their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
