The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects over a violent clash that left several people dead in the Ojoo area of Akinyele Local Government Area.
According to the police, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku, Ibadan, where detectives have launched a full investigation into the incident.
Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said the investigation will examine the reported attempted robbery, the mob attack that followed, the resulting public unrest, and other criminal acts connected to the violence.
The command condemned the use of jungle justice, stressing that members of the public should never take the law into their own hands. Residents were urged to hand over suspected criminals to security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution instead of resorting to mob action.

The police also appealed for calm, warning community leaders, youth groups, and residents not to allow criminal elements to exploit the incident to trigger ethnic or communal tensions. Authorities said additional security personnel have been deployed to the affected area and other strategic locations to maintain law and order.
The command assured residents that anyone found responsible for the violence would face prosecution.
The unrest reportedly erupted after the killing of a Point of Sale (POS) operator, sparking clashes between wheelbarrow pushers and some residents. Reports indicate that at least four people lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government has also appealed for calm, promising that those responsible for the crisis will be brought to justice.
