
Two police officers have been killed after suspected armed herders reportedly ambushed the entourage of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ayilamo in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident occurred on Monday evening as the DPO was returning to Ayilamo from Makurdi, where he had gone on official assignment. The officers were reportedly part of the team deployed to escort him back to the community.
The Benue State Police Command confirmed the attack, saying the DPO survived but lost two of his men.

The latest incident comes just days after suspected armed herders reportedly attacked Ayilamo community, killing four police officers and seven residents.
Security authorities are expected to intensify efforts to restore peace and protect residents in the affected communities.
