The Osun State Police Command has arrested five suspects over an alleged assault and affray involving a beer parlour owner at Ori-Eru Junction in Iwo.
The command said the arrests followed reports circulating on social media alleging police inaction over the incident.
Police said the matter initially involved a complaint of assault occasioning harm before it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
According to the command, investigations revealed that two factions of commercial motorcyclists had been involved in a longstanding dispute over customers at Ori-Eru Junction.
The dispute reportedly resurfaced on September 6, 2026, during efforts to resolve the disagreement.
Police alleged that 41-year-old hotel owner, Ajani Saheed, was injured on the head with a broken bottle by 16-year-old Samuel Ayetimiyi during the confrontation.
Supporters of Saheed allegedly invaded the beer parlour owned by Ibironke Arowolo after seeing that he had been injured.
The command alleged that Arowolo was assaulted and sustained injuries to her face and other parts of her body, leading to her admission to hospital for treatment.

Her 19-year-old daughter, Doris Ayetimiyi, was also alleged to have joined the confrontation with some customers at the shop.
The five suspects arrested were identified as Sodiq Yusuf, 36; Olagoke Kolawole, 35; Ajani Saheed, 41; Samuel Ayetimiyi, 16; and Doris Ayetimiyi, 19.
Police said the suspects were arrested for alleged assault occasioning harm, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and affray.
The command added that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
