The Benue State Police Command has arrested 46 suspects allegedly linked to the obstruction of Peter Obi’s convoy during his visit to the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, said the suspects were arrested following intelligence-led operations launched after a group of people reportedly blocked Obi’s movement along Gboko Road on Tuesday.
According to the police, officers avoided using force at the scene to prevent possible loss of lives and destruction of property, while ensuring Obi was safely escorted to the airport.

Nwadiogbu said investigations are ongoing and that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He also warned that security agencies would not tolerate actions capable of escalating political tensions as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
Obi had said he visited Benue to sympathise with families affected by the Yelwata crisis and maintained that the visit was not campaign-related
