A police corporal serving with the Bauchi State Police Command, Sahabi Musa, has resigned from the Nigeria Police Force, citing alleged mistreatment by senior officers, poor welfare conditions and excessive work-related stress.
Musa, who was attached to the Maleri Division, communicated his decision in a resignation letter dated November 4, 2026, addressed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In the letter, the officer identified several challenges that influenced his decision, including what he described as persistent unfair treatment by some senior-ranking officers, inadequate welfare provisions and mounting occupational pressure.
He also disclosed that repeated difficulties in securing a transfer out of the Bauchi State Command contributed to his decision to leave the Force.

According to Musa, the combined effect of these challenges had taken a toll on his personal well-being and morale, making it increasingly difficult for him to discharge his duties effectively.
He explained that he had carefully considered his decision before formally submitting his resignation to the police authorities.
Despite his grievances, the corporal expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve in the Nigeria Police Force and the professional experience he gained during his time in the institution.
He subsequently requested approval of his resignation in line with the established rules and regulations of the Force.
The development has once again drawn attention to concerns surrounding police officers’ welfare, working conditions, treatment by superior officers and personnel management within the Nigeria Police Force.
