
Police operatives have successfully repelled a large-scale bandit attack on Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attackers reportedly invaded the community around 6:12 p.m., prompting the deployment of Police Mobile Force units, tactical teams and conventional police officers.
According to the Benue State Police Command, the gun battle lasted about seven hours, with the security operatives eventually forcing the bandits to retreat into the surrounding forest.
However, four police officers were killed while defending the community. The bodies of seven civilians were also recovered during search operations, bringing the number of recovered bodies to 11.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C. N. Nwadiogbu, commended the officers for their courage and sacrifice, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims and the Ayilamo community.
Additional tactical teams have since been deployed to the area as security agencies intensify operations to restore safety and protect residents.
