Delta State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Etaifo Erale, has clarified that Ezekiel Pius, who was arrested over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in Effurun, is not a serving police officer.
Erale said the suspect had no legitimate connection with the Nigeria Police Force, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Pius was reportedly working as a security guard at a private school while allegedly posing as a mobile police officer.
He is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing the teenager and threatening to kill her if she exposed the alleged crime.
Human rights activist Israel Joe has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, particularly how the suspect allegedly gained access to police uniforms and firearms despite not being a serving officer.
