The Lagos Airport Police Command has concluded plans to arraign two passengers accused of smoking cigarettes and causing a disturbance aboard an Air Peace flight travelling from South Africa to Lagos.
The suspects, identified as 51-year-old Enaruna Prince Aghama and 43-year-old Tony Ajayi, were taken into custody after the aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. They were handed over to the International Airport Police Division by aviation security officials for investigation.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening while the flight was en route to Lagos. Investigators alleged that the two men lit cigarettes inside the aircraft, triggering the plane’s smoke detection and emergency alarm systems. The alarm reportedly caused panic among passengers and members of the cabin crew.
Police also alleged that the suspects were in possession of alcoholic drinks during the flight and became uncooperative when flight attendants attempted to stop them from violating safety regulations. Their actions were said to have disrupted the orderly operation of the flight.

She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing aviation security laws and protecting passengers, airline personnel and airport users. The police commissioner also urged travellers to obey lawful instructions issued by airline operators and cabin crew, describing discipline on board aircraft as essential to safe air travel.
