Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled coordinated attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists to infiltrate several communities in Borno State.
The failed attacks occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 10, 2026, targeting areas on the outskirts of Maiduguri, including Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis.
According to a statement by the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Captain Muhammad Goni, the terrorists launched multiple infiltration attempts between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., aiming to gain access to the Maiduguri metropolis.
However, troops, supported by early warning systems, swiftly detected the movement of the insurgents and engaged them with precise and coordinated firepower from multiple directions. The response effectively disrupted the attack and forced the terrorists to retreat.
In separate operations, troops also thwarted additional infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai.

Captain Goni further disclosed that during a pursuit operation in Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, and the situation remains under control.
Overwhelmed by the military’s swift tactical response, the insurgents reportedly abandoned their mission and fled across all axes.
Troops are currently conducting clearance and follow-up operations to track down the fleeing terrorists, consolidate gains, and prevent further threats to nearby communities.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive counter-terrorism operations aimed at denying insurgents freedom of action and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the North East.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
