Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected members of the Aye Confraternity during an intelligence-driven operation, recovering a large cache of items including 500 SIM cards, weapons, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.
The arrests were made along the Ago/Festac Bridge axis during a routine stop-and-search exercise.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, officers initially intercepted a Toyota Camry XLE carrying two suspects identified as Emmanuel John (24) and David Godwin (28).
A search conducted on the suspects led to the discovery of substances believed to be hard drugs. During preliminary interrogation, both individuals reportedly confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.
Following their confessions, the police expanded the investigation, leading to the arrest of three additional suspects: Samuel Owubokiri (25), Adetona Seyi (20), and David Chigozie (25).

Items recovered from the suspects include military camouflage, two machetes, a battle axe, a knife, 500 SIM cards, five mobile phones, five laptops, charms, and other substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
The recovery of the large number of SIM cards has raised concerns, although authorities have yet to disclose their intended use or whether forensic analysis will be conducted.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling cultism and violent crimes, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, assured residents that intelligence-led operations would continue across the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and enhance public safety.
