Police operatives in Delta State have recovered a locally made cut-to-size firearm abandoned by suspected cultists following a clash in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The firearm was recovered on Friday, September 4, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., after officers of the Oghara Police Division, working alongside members of the Civilian Anti-Cult Group, responded to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects fled after sighting the approaching patrol team.

One of the fleeing suspects, identified by the alias “Highest,” reportedly dropped the locally made firearm while escaping from the scene.
The police subsequently recovered the weapon, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.
The command said further investigations would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the clash and determine the identities of those responsible.
