
Suspected bandits have killed the Deputy Commander of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) in Zuntu, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State, alongside two other members of the vigilante group.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night while the security personnel were operating in the Kubau area.
The incident was disclosed on Monday by Usman, an open-source intelligence monitor who tracks security developments in the region.
According to him, the KADVS deputy commander attached to Zuntu town was among three vigilantes killed during the attack.
“The KADVS deputy commander in Zuntu town, Kubau axis, Kaduna State, has fallen. The vigilantes commander was killed by bandits along with two of his men last night,” he said.
The killings have reportedly triggered mourning among the deceased officers’ colleagues and residents of the community.

Kubau has witnessed several security operations involving KADVS personnel and other security agencies in recent months.
In June 2026, KADVS personnel reportedly arrested suspected bandits along the Ikara-Zuntu route. In another midnight operation, the vigilante service was also said to have apprehended eight suspected armed bandits in Kubau following surveillance activities.
The latest attack has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in parts of Kaduna State.
