Troops of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded a major success following a coordinated air and ground offensive against notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara State.
The operation targeted the camps of feared kingpins identified as Najaja, Dogo Gide, Nasanda, and Buba Oris in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas.
The offensive was launched after intelligence reports revealed that hundreds of armed fighters had gathered along the Bayarzaki riverline.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, who disclosed details of the operation on X (formerly Twitter), the military began with precision airstrikes on the identified hideouts before deploying ground troops to strategic positions.
Troops reportedly set up an ambush along the Gummi–Anka road, intercepting fleeing terrorists and pursuing them toward the Kombo High Ground. This led to a fierce gun battle, during which scores of the insurgents were neutralised.

One soldier sustained injuries during the operation, while troops also recovered ammunition during follow-up clearance exercises in the affected areas.
Bakatsine described the offensive as a significant setback for armed groups operating in Zamfara State, noting that it reflects the military’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and deny them safe havens.
He further commended the troops for their resilience, professionalism, and sacrifice in the fight against insecurity, while wishing the injured soldier a speedy recovery.
The latest development underscores intensified military operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across Nigeria’s North-West region.
