The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has intercepted a truck conveying 45,000 litres of suspected adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and arrested a suspect in connection with the illegal operation.
The suspect, identified as Sunday Ukeh, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Anti-Vandalism Squad along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway in Amansea, Awka.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Head of Media and Tactical Operations, Edwin Okadigbo, the operation took place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m. The suspect reportedly attempted to evade arrest and allegedly tried to run over NSCDC personnel, prompting a hot pursuit.
“The suspect refused to stop when flagged down and attempted to drive through officers, endangering their lives. A chase ensued, leading to his interception at a military checkpoint in Amansea,” the statement said.

Upon being stopped, Ukeh allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to assault one of the officers before he was subdued and taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations revealed inconsistencies in the waybill presented by the suspect, raising further suspicion about the legitimacy of the petroleum product. The truck and its contents have since been impounded for further investigation.
The NSCDC reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on illegal dealings in petroleum products and warned that any attack on its personnel while carrying out lawful duties would attract the full weight of the law.
The State Commandant commended the Anti-Vandalism Squad for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to tackling petroleum-related crimes in Anambra State.
