The Department of State Services (DSS) has rescued the four remaining students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, who were abducted by bandits during an attack on their off-campus hostel in June.
The rescue operation, carried out late on Wednesday, was based on intelligence gathered by the agency. During the operation, one suspected kidnapper was arrested, while other members of the gang were killed.
The students were freed without the payment of any ransom.
The latest rescue comes days after the DSS successfully secured the release of a professor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in a separate intelligence-led operation.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the security operatives relied on credible intelligence to locate the kidnappers’ hideout and rescue the victims.
According to him, the rescued victims were the four students who had remained in captivity after two of the six abducted students were earlier released.

The students were kidnapped on June 3 when armed bandits invaded their off-campus hostel in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda town.
Following the earlier release of two victims, security agencies intensified intelligence gathering and launched a coordinated operation to track down the kidnappers and secure the release of those still in captivity.
The operation eventually led to the safe rescue of the remaining students without any ransom payment. Authorities also arrested one suspected kidnapper, while other members of the criminal gang involved in the abduction were neutralised.
Security agencies have not yet released the identity of the arrested suspect, while investigations are expected to continue.
