Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully thwarted a planned mass abduction and rescued 27 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
The operations, conducted over the past two days, form part of ongoing military efforts to combat insecurity and dismantle criminal networks across Nigeria’s North-West region.
According to security sources, troops acted swiftly on intelligence reports of an impending attack along the Gummi–Sokoto highway. Upon arrival, they engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, forcing the assailants to flee before executing the planned abduction.
In separate rescue missions carried out across both states, the troops secured the release of 27 victims who had earlier been abducted in different incidents. All rescued individuals have since been safely reunited with their families.

Security personnel also recovered several livestock and motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing criminals during the operations.
The successful missions have drawn commendation from security observers, who praised the troops for their professionalism, rapid response, and sustained commitment to protecting lives and restoring stability in affected communities.
The development underscores intensified military action aimed at curbing banditry and kidnapping, which have continued to pose serious security challenges in the region.
