Residents of Agbado in Lagos State staged a protest at the Ikeja Electric office on Wednesday over a prolonged power outage that has crippled daily life in the community.
The demonstrators, mostly women, blocked the entrance to the office and demanded immediate restoration of electricity. According to them, the blackout has lasted for several weeks, disrupting businesses, straining households, and forcing residents to spend more on alternative power sources.
Protesters accused Ikeja Electric of poor communication, saying the company failed to explain the cause of the outage or provide a timeline for restoration. They also said repeated complaints to the company had yielded little response, prompting the decision to protest.
