A female Point of Sale (POS) operator has been critically injured after a fully loaded container truck lost control and crashed into a commercial bus and nearby shops in Lagos.
The incident occurred on Monday at Second Rainbow, inward Oshodi, along a service lane near a Police Tactical Team station.
According to officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the 40-foot container truck reportedly veered off its lane while in motion, overturned, and landed on a commercial shuttle bus before ramming into roadside businesses.
The impact caused extensive damage to properties in the area and left the POS operator, who was attending to customers under a canopy, with severe injuries to both legs.
Emergency responders, including officers from the Police Tactical Team, swiftly arrived at the scene and rescued the victim, who was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
LASTMA officials also intervened promptly to manage traffic, secure the crash site, and coordinate rescue operations, preventing a major gridlock despite the scale of the accident.

The truck driver has since been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities later deployed a recovery truck to evacuate the overturned vehicle and the damaged bus, while officers from the Orile-Iganmu Police Division commenced documentation and preliminary inquiries into the cause of the crash.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasized the need for strict adherence to vehicle safety standards.
He urged truck operators and logistics companies to carry out routine mechanical checks, particularly on braking systems, before putting heavy-duty vehicles on the road.
He warned that poor vehicle maintenance continues to pose a serious threat to lives and public infrastructure, stressing that compliance with safety regulations is non-negotiable.
