The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 29-year-old Bolt driver, Emmanuel Effiong Ita, whose body was discovered inside his Honda City vehicle in Calabar.
The incident occurred along the Target–Udy King axis of the Cross River State capital on Thursday, August 28, 2026.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, disclosed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Calabar on Friday.
According to the police, officers were immediately deployed to the area after receiving information about the discovery.
However, before the arrival of investigators, family members had reportedly moved the deceased’s body to the General Hospital Mortuary.
A preliminary examination conducted at the mortuary revealed that Ita had sustained an injury to his chest.
The police said the Honda City vehicle belonging to the deceased had been recovered, while relevant materials and evidence were being preserved to assist investigators in determining the circumstances surrounding his death.

Eitokpah said a preliminary investigation had commenced and that the matter would subsequently be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more detailed and comprehensive investigation.
The command assured residents that efforts were underway to uncover the facts surrounding the incident and identify anyone who might be connected to the driver’s death.
Police authorities also appealed to members of the public to avoid speculation and desist from circulating unverified information about the case.
The command said further developments would be communicated to the public as investigations progress.
