Residents of Benue State have expressed widespread outrage following the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy identified as Sesugh, with growing calls for justice and transparency surrounding the circumstances of his demise.
The incident has sparked intense reactions across the state, particularly after activist and social commentator, Ukan Kurugh, accused security authorities of attempting to manipulate the narrative and obscure the truth.
In a statement shared online, Kurugh alleged that the teenager was killed in broad daylight in the presence of eyewitnesses.
He further lamented that instead of prioritizing justice, authorities appear to be focused on controlling the narrative.
“A young boy has lost his life, a mother is grieving endlessly, and a family has been thrown into permanent sorrow yet the priority seems to be propaganda rather than justice,” he stated.
Kurugh also claimed that there are efforts to shield certain influential individuals, warning that attempts to suppress the truth would ultimately fail.
He emphasized that justice must prevail, insisting that “the voice of innocent blood cannot be silenced.”

Amid the growing tension, several residents have called for an independent and transparent investigation into the incident to ensure accountability.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command had earlier provided a different account, linking the case to a prior operation involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi.
According to the police, three suspects James Onuh, Atser Sesugh, and Solomon Aondoakura Orhena were arrested on April 28, 2026, over alleged involvement in fraud and cybercrime.
The police further stated that the suspects reportedly escaped from EFCC custody on May 4, 2026, before going into hiding.
Despite this official explanation, public skepticism remains high, with many insisting that the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death require deeper scrutiny.
As pressure mounts, residents continue to demand justice, transparency, and accountability from relevant authorities.
