A physically challenged man has died after a truck reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into multiple vehicles along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Car Park C on the outbound section of the expressway. The accident involved a container-laden Mack truck, a loaded DAF truck, and a Toyota bus.
According to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), preliminary findings indicated that the Mack truck lost its brakes while approaching a turning point, causing it to collide with vehicles negotiating the bend.
The truck also struck a physically challenged man in a wheelchair, who died instantly from the impact.
TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi said emergency responders, including TRACE officials, personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police Force, responded swiftly to the scene to manage the situation and clear the wreckage.

The incident caused heavy traffic congestion on the outbound Lagos route as officials worked to evacuate the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
The accident came less than 24 hours after separate crashes on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway claimed one life and left two others injured, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
Authorities have urged motorists, especially operators of heavy-duty trucks, to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy to reduce accidents linked to mechanical failures.
