The Ogun State Police Command has successfully dismantled an illegal diesel syndicate and arrested 16 suspects in a series of coordinated operations across the state.
The arrests, carried out under the ongoing “Operation KOSAYE,” followed multiple intelligence-led raids between July 12 and July 21, 2026. The crackdown targeted crimes including illegal petroleum dealings, infrastructure vandalism, burglary, defilement, and vehicle hijacking.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operations were executed on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, in alignment with the Inspector-General of Police’s strategy on intelligence-driven policing.
One of the major breakthroughs occurred on July 21, when operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit uncovered a diesel bunkering site in Abule-Iroko, Sango.
A 51-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, where officers recovered four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil, thirteen 25-litre jerry cans filled with diesel, a pumping machine, and a generator used for the illicit operation.
In a separate operation in Ota, two suspects were apprehended while allegedly vandalizing telecommunications cables, highlighting ongoing threats to critical national infrastructure.
Police also recorded success in tackling burglary and theft across multiple divisions, recovering stolen items and tracking suspects through forensic methods.

Notably, a stolen motorcycle was recovered in Ajuwon following a detailed investigation, while a house-breaking case in Agbado led to multiple arrests after tracing a stolen mobile phone.
In a disturbing development, a 50-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl. The victim has since received medical attention, and the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Additionally, police operatives recovered a hijacked mini truck along the Benin-Ore Expressway after armed hoodlums abandoned it and fled upon sighting security personnel. An abandoned bus was also recovered in Atan Ijebu, pending identification of its rightful owner.
Further arrests were made in connection with burglary and house-breaking incidents across the state, as investigations continue to track down other fleeing members of the syndicates.
Commending the officers for their professionalism, CP Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KOSAYE through enhanced intelligence gathering, routine patrols, and community collaboration.
The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure safety and bring all perpetrators to justice.
