Kehinde: One Of The Victim
Suspected kidnappers have demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for the release of two residents abducted in Ogun State, escalating concerns over rising insecurity in the region.
The victims, identified as Kelvin Ayobami Moyegun and Kehinde Rufai, were reportedly kidnapped on Thursday evening in the Kobape area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when armed assailants ambushed residents at a residential compound.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers—believed to be about four in number—struck as one of the residents attempted to leave the premises.
In the process, another resident, Al-haqq Shobakin, who had come out to open the gate, was shot and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Abeokuta.
A family member of one of the victims disclosed that the kidnappers later established contact, demanding ₦25 million for each victim.
Efforts by the families to negotiate a reduction in the ransom have reportedly failed, as the abductors insisted on full payment.

“We are just a struggling family and cannot afford such a huge amount. We are appealing to the government and security agencies to intervene and rescue our loved ones,” a relative said.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command stated that operatives have been deployed to secure the victims’ release and apprehend those responsible.
The Police Public Relations Officer assured that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified.
The abduction comes barely a month after the launch of a joint security operation between Lagos and Ogun States, codenamed Operation Kosaye, aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates and other criminal networks operating along the border communities.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, as security agencies continue their crackdown on violent crimes in the region.
