Security forces operating under Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued a kidnap victim and recovered 126 rustled livestock during coordinated operations in Katsina State.
The development was disclosed in an official statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja.
According to the statement, the breakthrough followed a distress call reporting terrorist activity in Karkata Village, located in Charanchi Local Government Area.
Troops, working alongside the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the assailants.
Upon contact, the troops reportedly overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their captive and flee into nearby bushes. The rescued victim was unharmed and has since been reunited with her family.
In a separate operation, troops collaborated with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to carry out coordinated raids in Wagin, Tundu Mobi, and Chadawaki communities within Batsari Local Government Area.

The exercise led to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm along with five cartridges and other exhibits. The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.
Additionally, troops acting on credible intelligence laid an ambush at a suspected crossing point used by terrorists in Yankwani Village, Bakori Local Government Area.
During the operation, armed suspects attempting to move rustled livestock were intercepted. Under sustained pressure, the criminals fled, abandoning a total of 126 animals, including 83 cows and 43 sheep.
The recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, in the presence of local authorities, for proper identification and return to their rightful owners.
Commending the troops for their bravery and vigilance, the Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed the military’s commitment to intensifying offensive operations against terrorist elements across Katsina State and the wider North West region.
The latest successes underscore ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other forms of criminality in the region.
