The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three men over the alleged possession of a forged identity card bearing the name of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The arrests followed the interception of an unregistered Lexus IS 250 around Bukan Sidi in Lafia during a routine patrol by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident in a post on X on Sunday, the suspects were identified as Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Nuhu and Ibrahim Suleiman.
During the operation, Mohammed Nuhu allegedly presented an identity card claiming to identify him as an ICPC officer.
However, when police officers questioned Mohammed Umar, who was driving the vehicle, about its ownership, he reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, leading to the arrest of all three occupants.
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the ICPC identification card presented by Nuhu was allegedly forged.

The suspect claimed he travelled from Kaduna State to Lafia with the driver because Umar did not have a valid driver’s licence.
Police investigations also reportedly linked one of the suspects to the Eiye Confraternity, a suspected cult group.
The three men are currently in police custody as investigations continue. The police said they would be charged to court, while efforts are ongoing to establish the ownership of the recovered vehicle and determine whether the suspects are connected to other criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations against criminal activities.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in maintaining peace and safety across the state.
