Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State have arrested a 25-year-old man, Yakubu Musa, during a routine patrol in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The suspect was apprehended along Alaka Road while carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen. According to police reports, Musa was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the items in his possession, prompting further investigation by the officers.
A subsequent search conducted at his residence led to the recovery of a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, believed to be locally fabricated.
Confirming the development, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated that the arrest was made on July 25, 2026, during a routine township patrol.

“The suspect could not give a credible account of the items he was carrying, which raised suspicion. Further investigation led to a search of his residence where a locally modified single-barrel firearm was recovered,” Edafe said.
He added that the suspect is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the weapon and possible links to other criminal activities.
The police have reiterated their commitment to sustaining patrols and intelligence-driven operations to curb crime and ensure public safety across the state.
