Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested two suspected collaborators of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a targeted operation in Borno State.
The arrests were carried out in Magumeri Local Government Area following actionable intelligence, according to security sources.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of July 28, was executed by troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion in collaboration with Hybrid Forces.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Modu Collu and 47-year-old Bashir Goni Tijani, both residents of Magumeri town, were apprehended during the raid. Preliminary findings indicate that the duo allegedly provided support to insurgent elements operating within the area.
During the operation, security operatives recovered a Tecno mobile phone believed to belong to one of the suspects. The device has since been secured for forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations.

Military authorities confirmed that the suspects, along with recovered items, are currently being processed and will be handed over to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) for further interrogation and necessary action.
The arrests form part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V, aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks, cutting off logistics supply chains, and eliminating local collaboration that enables insurgency in the North-East.
Security officials noted that while the situation across the operational theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable. Troops, however, continue to maintain high morale and operational readiness in their sustained efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
