Security operatives have arrested a suspected Boko Haram informant during an intelligence-led operation in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region.
The suspect, identified as Abulfatahi, was apprehended on Sunday after security agencies tracked members of a suspected intelligence network believed to be assisting Boko Haram fighters.
According to security sources, the arrest followed the earlier capture of two other suspected members of the same network, who are currently undergoing further investigation by a joint intelligence team.
During initial questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to working for a Boko Haram commander identified as Akilu, who is believed to coordinate terrorist activities in parts of northern Borno.
Investigators claimed the suspect confessed to collecting levies on behalf of the terrorist group and helping identify potential kidnapping victims around communities in Monguno.

Security operatives also reportedly recovered two phone numbers suspected to belong to the terrorist commander from the suspect’s mobile device. The information is expected to aid ongoing efforts to track other members of the network.
Authorities said investigations are continuing to identify additional collaborators, uncover the full extent of the group’s operations, and strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism efforts across the Lake Chad region.
Security officials added that a comprehensive report will be prepared once the investigation is concluded, while operations to dismantle terrorist cells in the area remain ongoing.
