Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of working with Boko Haram during a carefully planned operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Abur Mallam Shuaibu, was arrested on July 30 at about 3:00 p.m. by soldiers of the 109 Special Forces Battalion working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out after intelligence reports indicated that the suspect had secretly entered Magumeri to attend a 40-day prayer ceremony organised in memory of his late father.

During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to taking part in several criminal activities linked to terrorist operations. He allegedly confessed to involvement in cattle rustling, attacking motorists travelling along the Magumeri-Gubio road, and collecting illegal levies from communities in the area.
He also reportedly revealed that the actions of his group forced many residents to flee their homes out of fear, as those who refused to pay the illegal levies risked being attacked or killed.
Security sources said the suspect will be handed over to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) for further investigation and any necessary legal action as efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the North-East continue.
