Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected fraudster, Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” for allegedly defrauding church members under the guise of organizing a fake pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The suspect was apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and investigation by detectives attached to the Obantoko Division.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Makinde allegedly collected a total sum of ₦2.5 million from 18 unsuspecting fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, Ogun State.
He reportedly convinced the victims that he was facilitating a government-sponsored trip to Jerusalem and promised each participant a return of ₦2 million.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect had been manipulating victims across Ogun, Oyo, and Osun states, disguising his fraudulent activities as spiritual deliverance sessions.
“The arrest followed credible intelligence and discreet investigations into allegations that the suspect fraudulently deceived victims under the pretext of spiritual guidance,” Babaseyi stated.
Makinde is currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to identify additional victims and apprehend possible accomplices connected to the scheme.
The police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, especially those involving financial requests tied to religious or spiritual claims.
